Passionate about local history? Then you’ll love all the photographs, documents and other research materials we have on hand, including oral histories gathered from family members of some of the town’s original settlers. One of our docents just happens to be the great grand-daughter of the man who built the Old Schoolhouse back in 1883.
We are also very fortunate in having been bequeathed an impressive collection of articles, photographs and research papers by Ida Lou Coley, one Encinitas’s most prolific and popular writers.
Research articles from our files can be accessed in hard or soft copy. Photocopies are available at 15¢ a copy.
Photographs, copyright of which remains the property of EHS, can also be reproduced in varying sizes for personal use. Please talk to our docents for more information regarding sizes and prices – EHS members receive a discount on all services.
Assistance in historical research is provided in the Old Schoolhouse on Friday and Saturday afternoons during our normal opening hours of 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
We are also happy to respond to phone and email enquiries (email@example.com)
